What is a Trash walk?

A trash walk is unique way to help you spend time in nature, relieve stress & have a cleaner, safer environment while doing so!

We appeal you to go for a walk, take a jog or just experience the outdoors enjoying the scenic view that nature so generously offers. We should all make an effort to spend a few moments daily taking in the tranquility that nature freely provides. We all want to enjoy our Sunday strolls by enjoying a peaceful atmosphere and scenic view however this beautiful view is often obstructed by heaps of rubbish and trash left along our walking path, park, river or trail.
Our once picturesque parks and walking trails have been littered with pollution, for this reason we at Entran have introduced the #Trashwalk initiative.

While taking your Sunday strolls or early morning jogs, we ask that you help take care of our environment by collecting trash on your way back and forth. Recent statics show a rapid increase and rise in the number of persons facing mental health issues due to the ongoing social distancing as a result of the corona virus pandemic. We believe that spending time surrounded by nature can be extremely beneficial and provide a perfect remedy for all of those feeling isolated and experiencing mental health issues. Immersing ones self in the outdoors provides us with peace of mind and allows the body, mind and soul to rejuvenate.  Studies show that walking barefoot in nature has a tremendous positive effect on ones mental stability and overall well being, it also attributes to getting a good nights sleep.

Taking a trash walk is the perfect way to be more active, obtain a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in life. Most importantly, it is a robust way to take timely actions working towards a cleaner environment. The worldwide lock down due the corona virus pandemic has come as a shock to all of us and although it has had many devastating effects on our economy, relationships and health. It has had the complete opposite effect of the environment, the world wide lock down has allowed nature to replenish itself and restore the balance. Carbon emissions have gone down by 7%. All of this indicates that nature is making it possible for us to undo our past mistakes and restore environmental balance without which we cannot sustain life on earth. Head out for a trash walk and help clean the environment or area you stay in and rejuvenate your self while doing so.

As an added benefit, this movement provides us with a strong sense of community and emotional proximity despite the physical distance that we have to maintain to ensure our loved ones well being.

You must be wondering how this is possible and what do you need to do to live this experience?

Well, we have a hands-on guide prepared to help you understand what you need to do to make your trash walk a successful one.

1. Invite people to participate in a trash walk.

To make the trash walk interesting, inclusive and impactful, we advise you to invite all your close connections, family and friends to go for a trash walk in their respective areas and share their experiences in the form of Facebook or Instagram posts. Please do not forget to tag us. It would be great if you manage to involve people who work in the waste industry and help them learn about responsible waste disposal. They could be anyone: a worker, waste transporter, waste collector, community leader or government/municipality officials.
We have created digital invitation cards for you to share. Please find it above and on our social media pages.

2. Before the trash walk, set out the goals you aim to achieve.

Set out goals you aim to achieve while on your walk, such as collecting 20 items or clearing the one path you always see littered with trash. You can also discuss the reasons for the walk, tweet about it and tag us. You could think about the possible waste items to look for and lay down what you hope to achieve by joining the trash walk.

3. Plan your walk

You will have to decide where to walk and make a list of things you aim to look for. Most importantly, you must think about what constitutes as waste according to you? Also what are the sort of waste items that you can actually pick without causing harm to yourself or even further harm to the environment. Do not forget to prepare 1-2 trash bags to carry along, be equipped with all the necessary gear and clothing you might require. Plan ahead and live the experience joyfully!

4. Go for the Trash Walk!

Finally, after all the preparation, here’s the moment where you get to have an immensely wonderful experience while waste-collecting and enjoying the tranquility and peaceful scenic view which you have had a hand in creating.
Also, remember to take your trash to an appropriate garbage despoil to ensure it gets disposed of in a proper and ethical manner.
Last but not the least, don't forget to share your trash walk moments with us on Facebook! We are happy to hear every joyful moments of you on the path of helping the world to be green again!
